What can I expect to earn as a FHP?
Earnings will vary depending how hard you work, where you are in the county and how much you invest into your career. I have set-out some examples of potential earnings which you might expect to see once qualified. They are a guide only but they are certainly not overly ambitious.
THE BASIC INCOME OPPORTUNITY
Seeing two clients an hour in an eight hour day is can bring in an income of between £320 - £540 per day. Working and extra hour or so will dramatically add to your earning potential. This income is for basic foot care type treatments and does not reflect other income opportunities from providing more specialised treatments or selling clients foot care products.
These figures are based on a low number of clients seen per hour. Most practitioners would be expected to see three clients per hour within a clinic setting.
If you are visiting clients in their homes then you might expect to see two per hour by planning your day. It is also quite usual to charge more for home visits to take account of the travel time and fuel costs associated with this type of work.
Visiting care homes is a much needed service and often involves seeing a large number of residents on the same visit. Many practitioners will offer a slight fee reduction as often the care required is uncomplicated and there is no travelling time lost between seeing each client.
ADDITIONAL INCOME STREAMS
Once in practice you will find that many of your clients need foot care products such as advanced creams, files, padding etc. Many Foot Health Practitioners supply their clients with these items thereby providing convenience for the client and an income stream for the FHP. As one of our ex-students and as a member of the Foot Health Community you will be entitled to significant discounts from our suppliers, helping you build a profitable practice.
You may also like to know that after you qualify you can train in more advanced techniques such as biomechanics and shockwave therapy. These treatments do require attending additional training but they can also offer great benefits to your clients and your business.
